Chinese restaurant robbed
On Monday August 22nd police patrols and detectives of the Special Robbery Unit were directed to Easy Ta Chinese restaurant on the Cape bay rd where shortly before two unknown young men armed with a large knife and a handgun stormed into the establishment.
While in the establishment the employees were threatened by the robbers. At one point during the robbery one of the employees resisted and a shot was fired in his direction which fortunately missed him. The robbers then stole the small amount of cash from the cash register and then fled the building. Detectives are investigating this case.
Attempted robbery
On Monday August 22nd police patrols were directed to Front street in the vicinity of Oranje school where an attempted robbery by two young men had taken place and after their attempt ran towards Backstreet. A description of the suspects had also been given. On the Backstreet the patrol saw two young men who fitted the description of the suspects in this case. Both suspects from Sint Maarten with the initials S.E. and J.J.S were arrested on the spot. During the search of one of the suspects a machete was found and confiscated. Both suspects were taken to the police station and handed over to the Special Robbery Unit. They remain in custody for further investigation.
