On Thursday President of Parliament Hon. drs. Gracita Arrindell met with Prime Minister Hon. Sarah Wescot-Williams and Minister of Justice Hon. Roland Duncan with respect to the legislative process.
Arrindell described the meeting as very productive.
"Clarity was received on the state of affairs with respect to the procedural process regarding the handling of national laws pending from the former Netherlands Antilles.
"These laws will be handled in the national assembly chamber of parliament once they have been received from the Government.
Minister Duncan also informed us about some new laws that will be sent to parliament within short related to security companies and the public notary among others. Parliament is looking forward to receiving the various laws in order to handle them accordingly," President of President Hon. Gracita Arrindell said on Thursday.
The President of Parliament added that the legal position of persons working for parliament was also discussed at length as well as those working for the factions.
In June the President of Parliament met with the Legal and Legislation Department where a protocol of understanding was established with respect to legislation.
Arrindell who requested the meeting with the Prime Minister said that these meetings will be taking place on a regular basis as part of the process of open, good and efficient governance.
