The Rotary Club of St. Maarten installed its 40th board last Saturday June 25th 2011 at Captain Oliver’s Restaurant where the change of board ceremony was held in Caribbean elegance.
As is customary the outgoing president, in this case Kishore Idnani, recognized the contribution made to the community through the Rotary Club of St. Maarten by bestowing the highest award possible within the Rotary organization on several members and non members. This year’s recipients of the Paul Harris Fellow are: Pierre Decelles, Micheline Decelles, Aadu Abel, Roger Snow, Klaas van Sloten and Monica Idnani.
The incoming president was installed together with her board during the official part of the evening’s event. Forming the board for 2011-2012 with president Rebecca Low, are the immediate past president Kishore Idnani, Secretary Elie Bendaly, Fred Fleming treasurer, Maria Buncamper Membership director, Manoj Alwani Public Relations director, Franklyn Maynard Seargant at Arms, Fred van de Peijl Community Service director, Pierre Decelles Club Service director and Klaas van Sloten Bulletin and Website director.
This year the club will focus on Health and the Alzheimer’s Awareness Campaign has already started the club’s activities off on a high note. The silent auction raised over USD 3500 for which the club is extremely thankful to the donors and bidders. The Rotary club of St. Maarten looks forward to the continuous support from the community in order to be able to carry out it’s programs and projects in the benefit of the community.
