St. Peters – The St. Maarten Youth Council Association has outlined its program for 2011. High on the agenda is the establishment of the St. Maarten Youth Parliament, the successor of the Youth Council’s Youth Island Council Program.
The St. Maarten Youth Parliament program will cater to young people aged 13 to 21 who are interested in how government functions. The program will offer training in Government & Politics, Parliamentary Procedures, Public Speaking, Research Skills and the Art of Debating.
Interested parties can register at the Rupert I Maynard Youth Community Center in St. Peters, by calling 555-8971 or sending an email to sxmyouthcouncil@hotmail.com.
In addition to the Youth Parliament Program, youth and youth organizations can look forward to a number of exciting training opportunities from the St. Maarten Youth Council this year. The 2011 program includes:
