The St. Maarten Lions delivered dinner to six less fortunate families on Christmas Day so they could have some extra joy for the holiday season.
The meal consisted of the traditional turkey, ham, rice and peas amongst other local dishes and each family also received a guava and a coconut tart.
"Christmas is a time for giving and sharing and the St.Maarten Lions Club went out of its way on this special day to touch those families" said St. Maarten Lions Club President Lisandra Havertong who led the team of Lion members through the various districts.
The families which averaged four to seven persons were all surprised and equally appreciative of the good gesture from the St. Maarten Lions Club for Christmas. This project was the first of its kind on Christmas Day in the club’s forty year history and they hope to make the food delivery project on Christmas Day an annual event.
