Lowlands, Beacon Hill areas Next on List for TelEm Group Telephone Line Transfers

TelEm Group technicians have completed the transfer of more than 540 residential and commercial telephone lines in the Simpson Bay area and will now be tackling the transfer of close to 500 more customer lines in the Lowlands and Beacon Hill areas starting today (Thursday).

The company is in the process of transferring telephone lines from TelEm Group’s legacy DMS 100 digital switch to a more modern software-based CS2K Softswitch.

With the completion of the Simpson Bay Section, more than 3600 lines have been transferred from DMS100 digital switches in the Dawn Beach, Ebenezer, and Belvedere areas.

CS2K Project Manager and Supervisor Switching Networks, Mr. Kenneth Blijden, says work will begin in the Lowlands and surrounding area at 9:00 am Thursday morning and should be completed by mid afternoon.

The work crew is scheduled to work in the Beacon Hill area on Friday morning and plan to complete that section by noon the same day.

Mr. Blijden says number transfers are being carried out in the morning hours to ensure the least impact possible to residential and commercial properties in the affected areas.

As a result of the cutover and to ensure numbers are reconnected immediately after the cutover, TelEm Group technicians will not be carrying out any repairs or new installations in the Lowlands and Beacon Hill areas until the cutover in both areas are completed.
