St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced on Thursday that Joel Garner has been appointed interim Team Manager of the West Indies Team for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Garner served as Team Manager until the end of the Digicel Series 2010 having been previously appointed for the West Indies Tour to Australia a year ago.
Speaking on Thursday, Garner said: "It is an honour to serve West Indies cricket in whatever capacity I am asked. As always, I am willing to do what is required to see West Indies cricket move forward. The upcoming tour to Sri Lanka is an important one for us and I am happy to offer my full support to the team."
Garner, 57, is a West Indies fast bowling legend who played at the international level between 1977 and 1987. He was recently inducted into ICC Hall of Fame. He is President of the Barbados Cricket Association and Director of the WICB.
Having advertised the Team Manager position the WICB is continuing the process of identifying a candidate to fill the position for the long term.
