HILVERSUM – The inhabitants of the islands are mostly positive (60%) with regard to the state reform. Still 79% believes that support from Holland will still be necessary. Those are two of the most important conclusions drawn from the investigation executed by Radio Nederland Wereldomroep in respective of the debate "10•10•10… i despues?" (10•10•10… and then?).
During this debate in the Papiamentu language 6 youngsters will be discussing various propositions derived from the end results of the investigation. This debate will take place coming October 8th between 18:30 hrs. and 20:00 hrs. and will be transmitted live via TeleCuraçao and Radio Hoyer 1.
Henny de Vos, editor in chief of Caribbean editing department: "The results are remarkable, if we put these in light of all the resistance around the changes in political structure, especially on Curaçao and Bonaire. The results also show that most of the respondents believe that the new statuses will lead to a better relationship with Holland." The investigation has been executed amongst more then 700 inhabitants of – what now still is – the Netherlands Antilles.
Debaters
The result of the investigation is the input for the topics that will be discussed during the debate titled: "10•10•10… i despues?". The youngsters Clark Abraham, Nifdelly Martis, Gwendell Mercelina, Rochelle Martijn-Isenia, Daniël Corsen en Cherelle Maduro will discuss about how the Dutch Kingdom should develop further after October 10, 2010. Désirée Martis will be the moderator for this debate. She is a native from Curaçao who has been working as a journalist at the Caribbean department of Radio Nederland Wereldomroep in Hilversum since 1982.

The debate is organized for the occasion of the expansion of the Caribbean editing department of RNW. As a conclusion of the debate, the new website will be launched with local news from all the islands containing audio, video and text in Papiamentu and Dutch.
Besides the debate RNW has made a television commentary titled: ’10/10/10, einde of nieuw begin?’ (10/10/10, ending or new beginning?). In this special documentary the Prime Ministers of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba and the Prime Minister of the outgoing Cabinet of Holland will openly be discussing about the future of the Dutch Kingdom. The documentary will be in Dutch but will also contain Papiamento subtitles. It will be transmitted on Tuesday the 5th of October at 19:00 hrs. via TeleCuraçao, at 21:30 hrs. via ATV Aruba and on Wednesday the 6th of October via BVN at 21:10 hrs. As of the 6th of October the documentary will also be accessible via www.caribiana.nl.
