On Friday night, October 1st between 10.30 and 11.00 p.m. sevral police patrols and detectives were directed to Cuchara Alegre on Cannegieter street to investigate and armed robbery whereby one of the robbers had possibly been shot.
On the scene several victims of the robbery stated that while they were in the bar two unknown men of dark complexion had entered the establishment armed with hand guns. They threatened every one in the bar with their guns and demaned they handed over their money and other belongings such as jewelry. At one point during the robbery, the gold chain of a civilian with initials E.J. was pulled from his neck. E.J. who is a licensed to carry a fire-arm noting how serious and dangerous this life threatening situation had become, pulled his weapon and to protect the other victims and himself from bodily harm fired at one the robbers. At the same time both robbers fled the building. While fleeing one of the robbers shot back at the persons in the bar, however no-one was injured. The robbers then succeded to flee the scene. A short while after the robber that had been shot was dropped-off close to the Sint Maarten Medical Center and was found by security officers who took him in for medical attention. This suspect with initials C.D. for Sint Kitts was immediately operated on to remove the bullet from his stomach. He was then admitted to the ICU for monitoring. This investigation is ongoing and as more information becomes available it will be sent to the media.
