This Thursday August 19th the Minister of Telecommunications , transport and traffic : Mr. Patrick Illidge will bring a visit to the Philipsburg Jubilee Library.
One of the main purposes of his visits is to assess the needs of the library when it comes to improve the computer services to children.
Minister Illidge is aware of the fact that many children on St Maarten do not have a computer or internet access at home. He is willing to support the library in its mission to give disadvantaged youth access to computers and internet services.
In 2008 the Bureau Telecommunicatie which falls directly under the Ministry of Telecommunications funded the new Integrated Library System of the Library. In 2009 the Library requested the support of the Bureau of Telecommunication to fund a Computer Centre for primary School students.
The Philipsburg Jubilee Library supports and provides access to knowledge, information and imagination through a wide range of resources and services.
With these resources in mind the library tries to reach every child that is in need of computer and internet access.
