On Sunday, August 22, 2010 Arts Video Studio will be presenting the first political debate leading up to the historic elections for Country St. Maarten. The political debate on Sunday is the first in a series of four debates with candidates of the various political parties contesting the September 17 elections for Country St. Maarten. The debate starts at 7PM.
The debates will be carried live from the Philipsburg Cultural & Community Center on Backstreet via St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 20, and will also be streamed live via the internet. The other debates will be held on Wednesday, September 1; Sunday, September 5, and the last debate with the leaders of the political parties will be held on Sunday, September 12 from 7PM-10PM.
On October 10, 2010 the Island Territory of St. Maarten will no longer be part of the Netherlands Antilles, as the Netherlands Antilles is being dismantled and Curacao and St. Maarten will become separate countries within the Dutch Kingdom. The election on September 17 here on St. Maarten is to elect members of government for country St. Maarten.
