Minister Jacoba signs letter of intent between Bon Futuro Prison, the Curacao Police Force, Curacao Fire Department and the ambulance service CEMS
The letter of intent between the Bon Futuro prison, the CuraƧao Police Force, the Fire Department and the ambulance service CEMS, provides a clear answer to the question what actions should be taken in cases of emergency within the prison.
The letter of intent which was drafted and signed by the Antillean Minister of Justice and the Dutch State Secretary of Interior Affairs was prepared in response to the Cooperation Agreement in 2009 to crystallize an improvement process for Bon Futuro.
Under the current approach, in the event of an incident in the prison, the police are called. The police in consultation with the director and management of the prison take action. In the future, under the letter of intent, a roadmap of operational agreements between the prison, police, fire and ambulance services, are followed. Having a good agreement between the chain partners, establishes how to handle appropriately in cases that present themselves. In fact, the prison gets the chance to use the expertise of its chain partners, and now has the ability to complement them with their own organization. This is a very positive development to ensure safety within the prison.
