WILLEMSTAD — The government considers tourism a part of the economy. Be it of exceptional great importance for the island in terms of employment and revenues, but not isolated.
It forms an integral part of the total economical development, the island’s Information Service announced.
"It is therefore not recommendable to isolate tourism development from other economical developments. A government must employ a healthy balance between the various components of economical development." In this, the government reacts to suggestions on having a separate ministry for tourism within the new government.
The organization of the government must be well regulated, logical and rational, the information service continues, and draws a comparison with the education portfolio that also includes sport, culture, and science.
The press statement emphasizes that the administrative organization of the new government is also well regulated. The basis is one minister of economical development with the responsibility for tourism in the framework of an endurable economy.
