On Thursday morning Lt. Governor Jonathan Johnson signed a financing agreement for the repairs to the Governor’s Residence. The agreement was signed with Mr. Albert Splinter, representative of USONA.
The financing was made available by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. An extensive report was made under the direction of the Head of Planning Bureau, Mr. Robert Zagers by an external consultant. The report noted that a lot of work has to be done to make the structure weather and water-proof. The electrical installation was also found to be substandard.
The repairs to the residence will include a new roof, windows, doors, and a modernized electrical installation. In the coming weeks a specification will be drawn up so that work can begin in a timely manner.
The Lt. Governor would like to thank State Secretary, Mrs. Ank Bijleveld for approving this project and Mr. Gert-Jan Stortelers, Head of the Dutch Representative on the Windward Islands for ensuring that the project was realized.
