As a follow up to the intensive training to advance their expertise and capability related to the subject Care, the teachers of the Sundial School refurbished the present Care and Welfare classroom at the Sundial School.
By creating a different classroom setting with workplace simulation centers, the students are able to do practical individual- and group assignments. With a new kitchen/dining room area, living room area, nursery and bedroom/hospital room, the students are being exposed to a professional environment.
This initiative is realized in close cooperation with the "Stichting Voortgezet Onderwijs Bovenwindse Eilanden", SVOBE. The School Board adjusted the present classroom walls, in order for the teacher to have better total classroom overview and therefore better classroom management. The installation of the kitchen was also funded by the School Board.
The living room furniture and kitchen completed with kitchen appliances were provided by USONA as part of the implementation of the project plan VSBO, Sint Maarten, under the organization of the Departement for Educational Research, Policy and Innovation, DERPI
