The staff of NAGICO Insurances got involved on Friday 3rd April 2009 in the company’s adopt-a-school program by making a presentation of story books to the children of the Methodist Agogic Center’s, Browlia F. Maillard Campus. The donation of books was a one of several initiatives undertaken by NAGICO, among them were two staff visits to the school to read to the children in an effort to increase their interest in books. The importance of reading is one of the basic fundamentals taught at the MAC and NAGICO was encouraged in making contributions, especially in this area. Marketing Officer Dylan Smith, attended the presentation, he commented "The staff of NAGICO were extremely willing to participate in donating books to the school. They understand the importance of encouraging the youth to read at an early age."
Principle of the school Mr. Glenville Browne stated, "We have been looking for this type of commitment from the business community for awhile. We have been fighting to get companies more involved with us and the children." Mr. Browne continued, "We would like to thank NAGICO Insurances for the initiative that has been taken. NAGICO has been very good to the MAC school, especially regarding the reading area." NAGICO has some additional plans for the MAC campus for the year, the insurance company will continue to support the school through its commitment to HIV PMT’s adopt-a-school program.
