“Enrollment Days” at USM to begin March 20th 2009

As the deadline to apply for the University of St. Martin’s Summer term rapidly approaches, students wanting to attend USM are encouraged to take advantage of the institution’s "Enrollment Days."

The period starting from March 20 to April 8th has been designated as "Enrollment Days."

"I have found that too many students are not heeding the application deadlines," says USM Director of Admissions Angelique Hazel, while adding "USM like any other tertiary institution requires the applicant’s file to be complete before review."

Parents are also urged to encourage their children to submit all missing documents on time and avoid late fees. After April 8, late fees will be levied. April 8th is also the international student application deadline for Fall 2009. The Placement Tests are scheduled for May 11-16.

She added that during "Enrollment Days" students are guaranteed to receive an answer on admittance within a couple of days while students waiting until after the deadline will have to wait longer for decisions on their applications.

"I am often times surprised at the resistance, from students and sometimes parents, to comply with the admissions requirements," Hazel said.
The Admissions Director also stressed that University of St. Martin is no different to other colleges and universities where all requirements must be met and files completed. She emphasized that students interested in applying for the Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education are required to apply for the Summer Semester and should also prepare to sit the Placement Test in May.

USM application requirements are;

– Completed application form

– $25 application fee

– High School Diploma

– High School Transcripts (must be sealed originals)

– Results of exit exams if applicable (CXC or GED results)

– Two passport pictures

– Copy of passport

– Affidavit of financial support (available at USM)

– Proof of residency

The application deadline for Fall 2009 is July 8. Several students planning to enroll at USM in the Fall have already completed their files and have already been accepted to the University of St. Martin.

"I would like to applaud these students for being proactive in their application process. I hope to see this trend continue in the future," Hazel concluded.
