The most remarkable surprise of this morning concerned the switchover of PAR-member Spencer to the DP. She is currently a member of the PAR-party in the States. Her switchover had sprung a surprise on PAR-Chairman Glenn Sulvaran. "She had informed us that she was not to be included on be list as she was getting a new job and wanted to spend more time with her child. We are surprised as there had been no question of a conflict within the party or with the management. She had even been present during the party council when our list had been approved. I cannot comprehend this."

Besides political leader Norbert George, the top of the red party consists of Spencer and Hugo Bik. Another surprise regards the sixth position for trade union man and former CBV-committee member Rodney Haseth.
Former FOL-deputy of General Affairs, responsible for political structure, Ignacio, had once voted against the final declaration. In the night of November 28th and 29th, 2006 he had been part of the Council’s majority who had voted against the final declaration. Ignacio had been included on the FK-list during the last Island’s Council elections in 2007, but will now participate with the upcoming elections as part of Lista di Kambio.

It was remarkable that amongst others States-member Glenn Ligui Lung, Deputy Mike Willem and Island Council-member Nico Cornelisse had not been included in the PAR-list. The top three of the PAR consists of Premier Emily de Jongh-Elhage, followed by Minister Omayra Leeflang (Education, Public Health and Social Development) and States-Chairman Pedro Atacho. Deputy Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé (Education) brings up the rear.
The FOL-list is full of surprises. The most surprising regards recent member and former PAR-Deputy Perry Gumbs as candidate number six. This list also includes former PLKP and MSL council-member Deputy Fransel Machena (10), lawyer and former PAR-member Jack Oedjaghir (9), former interim head of the Bureau Communication and Information (DCV) Maria Nita (12), and former Deputy Mayerdith Bouwland-Luciano (13). Island Council-member Renfred Rojer is party leader. States-member Gelmar Caldera had been conspicuous by his absence.
