Reach – Out- and- Read presents: “Open a world of possibilities” at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library

Reach-Out- and- Read Foundation in cooperation since 2004 with the Philipsburg Jubilee Library will launch  their annual reading program “ Reach out and Read term 2017-2018 under the theme: “Open a world of possibilities”. Registration for the Reach Out and Read program will take place on Saturday September 2nd, 2017.

 

Reach-Out- and – Read is a reading program geared towards assisting readers with reading difficulties to become more proficient and eventually discover the joy of reading.

 

The program is meant for deficient readers with limited guidance coming from schools with English or Dutch as the language of instruction.  Students from schools with English at the language of instruction must be at least in Cycle 1 year 4 (former 2nd grade); Students from schools with Netherlands as language of instruction must be in Cycle 2

 

Both the Reach Out and Read Foundation and the Philipsburg Jubilee library, are aware of the need to assist deficient readers in developing their reading skills, stimulate, and assist these youngsters toward becoming avid readers.

 

Each child is looked at individually. All students read for 30 minutes followed by language games, and reading related activities. Parents can look forward to see their child becoming more proficient in reading.

 

Registration of new participants as well as those returning after the summer break must be done by a parent – in –person at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library on: Saturday 2nd of September 2017.  From 9.30 am to 11 am. Testing for placement in groups will also be done.

 

The start date of the reading program is September 9th, 2017, at 9.30am to 10.30am and every Saturday henceforth concluding in the month of April 2017 in a festive manner.

 

 

We are encouraging all parents to register their children if they are in need of the extra assistance that will build their confidence while instilling in them the love of reading and learning on Saturday September 2nd, 2017 at 9.30 am to 11am.
