STEWART’S XI WINS AGAIN – UNDER 19 CAMP

ST JOHN’s, Antigua – Emmanuel Stewart, captain of his Under 19 squad, squeezed out a 19-runs victory on Sunday at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, for back to back wins against his colleague, Kirstan Kallicharan, in a practice match on Sunday.

Stewart’s XI – 198 for 8 (40 overs); Kallicharan’s XI 175 for 8 (40 overs) – having been set a revised target of 195. (Scorecard attached)

 

For the winners, Cephas Cooper made 66 runs, while Navin Bidaisee supported with 26. In the losing team, Bhaskar Yadram with 69 and Johnnel Eugene 39, were the top scorers. Te-Shawn Alleyne was the outstanding bowler for Stewart’s XI with final match figures of 8-1-31-3; while Darron Nedd was the bowling pick for the losers with final match figures of 8-0-42-3.

 

The match, part of the Under 19 camp for the 21-member squad, held in Antigua, forms part of the preparation for the team’s defence of the World Cup which is due in New Zealand early 2018.

 

Next on the agenda is the July tour of South Africa. The players are due to travel back to their respective homes today (April 10).
