TelCell 2015 Breakthrough Winners Release Groovy Single, “Believe in Love”

Winners of the 2015 edition of the TelCell Breakthrough Talent Show released the song, “Believe in Love” at the TelEm headquarters Thursday, March 24, 2016, in the presence of the company’s top executives and marketing team.

The winners, Lian Borsje, Rumari Rogers, Kyanni Atmopawiro, Aldi Farrell and Paul Brown displayed their musical talents in a collaborative effort on “Believe in Love”, a beautifully produced song which left everyone with goose bumps, including TelEm Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mrs. Helma Etnel, who congratulated the youngsters for a very impressive product that speaks eloquently to the TelEm brand.

Mrs. Etnel said apart from the quality of the song, she was particularly pleased with the topic. “Love is indeed what the world needs today and I am very happy to see our young St. Maarten artistes singing about that.”

The young artistes expressed disbelief at the final product. They said Executive Producer Berteaux (“Mr. Rude”) Fleming had pulled one on them that gave the song a stamp of excellence.

Co-written by Rumari Rogers and Fleming, with Aldi Farrell on bass guitar and Paul Brown on beatbox, “Believe in Love” was recorded, mixed and mastered at Rock N’ Vibes Studio.

Fleming told the artistes that they now have a calling card with which to enter the world of entertainment. He added that it was fun working with all of them.

Brian Mingo, Chief Operations Officer (COO) of TelEM Group of Companies, praised the “incredible talent” of the youngsters and called on the radio stations on the island to play the song. “This was the idea from the beginning: to showcase the great talent our youth have.”

The initiative began in 2013 by TelEm’s creative team as a means of honoring the island’s youth and offering them a platform to exhibit their talents and skills, with the ultimate aim of having them “break through” the very competitive entertainment field and possibly launch successful international careers.

This was on the top of Ms. Angel Richardson’s mind, the coordinator of the TelCell Breakthrough Talent Search, when she jokingly told the new recording artistes not to forget those who helped them realize their dreams when they become famous.

Following the launch of the single, work is being finalized on the accompanying video clip, directed by Cheryl Rismay, TelEm Group’s marketing and sales officer. The video shoot, she disclosed, was grueling but “a lot of fun” and the end product will soon be completed. It was produced by Cani TV.

The TelCell Breakthrough Talent Search is a year-round affair that begins with a series of district auditions and performances to choose the best in the following categories: vocals, dance, rap/dancehall, beep bopping, stand-up comedy, drama, and freestyle/creative.

The finals are held each year at the Casino Royale Theater, but the experience for the winners does not end there. In fact, it begins there. The main prize for the winners is a recording contract for one single and a video clip to accompany the song.  The winner of each segment is also adopted by TelCell’s Commercial and Marketing team for future promotions and demonstrations, thus offering the artistes additional exposure for a whole year.

“Believe in Love” is a groovy hip hop/rap that is sure to make a positive impact not only locally but abroad as well, given the message of its lyrics and the professionalism of its production and arrangement.

TelCell, your own mobile service provider, is committed for the third year in a row, to helping identify, stimulate and coach young talent on St. Maarten.
