Mrs. Evelina Anthony appointed acting Island Governor Bonaire

Mrs. Evelina Anthony will be appointed by December 1st , 2015 as acting Island Governor for the public entity of Bonaire, for the period of one year. The Kingdom Representative for Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba, Gilbert Isabella, has decided this on November 30th , 2015. Mrs. Anthony, born on October 4th , 1950 on Aruba, has extensive managerial and administrative experience in the Netherlands and the Caribbean. The acting Island Governor will focus mainly on regulating decision-making processes within the Executive Council and the Island Council during the absence of the Island Governor. Ms. Anthony is honored to be working for the public administration of Bonaire and will endeavor to join forces together for a better Bonaire.

The appointment of an acting Island Governor is a responsibility and jurisdiction of the Kingdom Representative pursuant to art. 91 of the WolBES. The Kingdom Representative has held talks with several candidates. There are clear arrangements between the Island Governor, the acting Island Governor and the Kingdom Representative made about when the Acting Island Governor will be on duty. This will be in the event that the Island Governor is not present on the island, or when, due to circumstances, is not able to perform its function.
