Prison Workers Week this year on Bonaire

The Prison Workers Week 2015, is organized this year by the Correctional Institution Dutch Caribbean on Bonaire. This annual event takes place from October 5th till October 11th. Every year the islands and countries in the Kingdom and Suriname take turns to organize this on their island or in their country.

 

The Prison Workers Week is intended to strengthen the links between all the countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Suriname by means of sporting, social and cultural activities and to get acquainted with each other’s work and craftsmanship. This year, about 150 participants from the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Suriname came to Bonaire to participate in the activities that are taking place during the Prison Workers Week 2015.

 

Activities organized include a cultural evening, shooting competitions, soccer and volleyball games, “games without frontiers” and karaoke. On Monday October 5th the week starts with the official opening and a festive cultural evening. Saturday October 10th a church service is held in the St. Bernardus church in Playa. Afterwards, there will be a march, which will finish at the patio of the administration building. The week will be concluded with a family day on Sorobon Beach.
