MP Lake commends PJL on getting seniors involved in computer technology

United People’s (UP) party Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Maurice Lake would like commend the Philipsburg Jubilee Library (PJL) for hosting a workshop for senior citizens at St. Martin’s Home about computer technology.

The Media Lab workshop was organized to assist persons who have little or no experience with computers on how to use this intelligent device.

“I heard that the seniors who took part in the workshop were very pleased and expressed great interests in the subject.  I must also commend PJL for organizing a public workshop session for April 24 which is open to the general public.

“I encourage our seniors who are not residents of St. Martin’s Home to come out on April 24 and take on the challenge of learning about computers.  It’s a device that can keep you in touch with family and friends here and abroad.

“Our seniors will also be able to learn how to Skype and see themselves and other family members here and abroad, and this will be beneficial for their wellbeing.  This is a great project that the library has embarked upon and I wish them much success and to continue to promote ICT development within our community,” MP Hon. Maurice Lake said on Tuesday.

Person interested in the April 24 workshop should register by going to www.mediaslabsintmaarten.com or calling the library at 542-2970.
