The board of the United People’s Party (UP) will be launching Powered UP Women in September. Membership is open to those who have an affinity with the aims and objectives of the community group.
The aim and objectives of the group are: to address women’s issues in the broadest sense of the word; to work towards the improvement of economic, employment and social conditions of women; to assist women and girls to acquire further education and training.
Powered UP Women will work to develop and encourage women to pursue business, the professions and politics; to work for high standards and integrity of service in business, professions and public life.
Powered UP Women will affiliate with other organizations to promote mutual interests of women; and to recognize and promote the varied abilities and accomplishments of its members and women in society, and to encourage the development of career and leadership aspirations of all women of Sint Maarten.
The aforementioned will be accomplished by organizing events, activities, seminars, and workshops.
Current members of the group are: Grisha Heyliger-Marten, Angelique Gumbs, Rosmarina Engel, Brenda Meyers-Wathey, and Dianne Richardson.
