Agreement reached with Insurance providers on COLA tariffs

After many months of deliberations between the family practitioner associations and the insurance associations, Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor, Cornelius De Weever and the Department of Public Health have been positively informed that the three organizations have come to an agreement on the matter regarding the Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) to the tariffs.

The St. Maarten Insurance Association (SMIA) informed the ministry that an agreement has been made, and the family practitioners will again accept the insurance cards of the private insurances. As was stated by SMIA, the new tariffs will go into effect as of December 1, 2013.

The minister and the Department of Public Health congratulate all parties and applauds the efforts in ensuring a positive outcome of these negotiations and a relief to the clients who were inconvenienced.
