The Ministry of Public Health , Social Development & Labor intends to maintain the spotlight on those suffering from disabilities, by structurally addressing this issue thru a deliberate adjustment in legislation. The importance of this cannot be overstressed – as we note that all persons are created equal, and therefore have equal rights to a good quality of life, comfortable and free from discrimination.
The call of the Honorable Minister V.H. Cornelius de Weever to his policy departments is to ensure that legislation is finalized and prepared immediately – affording those who are disabled to contribute positively to society and to be able to tap into additional financial resources.
" I am holding my Management team accountable to get this done , and time is of the essence – because each day that passes and this remains unaddressed , is yet another day that the disabled person runs the very real risk of not being able to meet his/her basic needs," said Minister De Weever.
