Parlatino opens new HQ in Panama City; Heads of State attend

President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell along with several members of Parliament were present in Panama City, Panama over the weekend for the opening of Latin American Parliament (Parlatino) Headquarters (HQ). 

The historic inauguration event on Saturday, 19 October was attended by Heads of State including Prince of Spain His Royal Highness Felipe de Borbon and Curacao’s Prime Minister Hon. Ivar Asjes.

The inauguration of the new parliamentary HQ was also a special moment for country Sint Maarten. The country’s flag hung prominently in front of the new HQ among the other 22 member states as well as inside the General Assembly Hall.

In addition, country Sint Maarten is forever etched in stone on the commemorative plaque placed at the entrance of the Parlatino building where the names of the Vice Presidents of Parlatino are engraved, including that of President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell.

The parliamentary sessions at the XXIX General Assembly concluded with the participants signing the guestbook as a record of the special inauguration event.

The Members of Parliament (MPs) who attended were, MP Hon. Patrick Illidge, MP Hon. George Pantophlet, MP Hon. Romain Laville, MP Hon. Petrus de Weever, MP Hon. Sylvia Meyers-Olivacce, President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell, and 1st Acting Secretary General Nancy Joubert.
