Saturday April 6, new date for TelEm Group Fun Park event

Organizers of the TelEm Group’s Fun Park event that was postponed Easter Sunday due to inclement weather, have announced a new date for the event to be staged.

The Fun Park will now open as planned on Saturday, April 6 at the same venue – The TelEm Group parking lot – starting at 12:00 noon.

Unfortunately, due to last Sunday’s postponement, some of the jugglers and fun performers from abroad had to leave the island to perform in other shows and will not be appearing this Saturday, however the organizers are busy finding replacement acts to add to the host of fun activities.

"We are happy to announce that our cartoon characters, Spongebob Squarepants, Dora and Mickey will still be joining in the fun Saturday upcoming along with some additional characters, " said event coordinator, Angel Richardson.

She says all the characters are looking forward to meeting with and entertaining St. Maarten’s boys and girls.

Ms. Richardson said a search to find some novel new entertainers for Saturday’s event is going well and assured that advertised activities at the Fun Park, such as rock climbing, face painting, bungee jumping and spray painting will take place as planned.

Also, the art contest, being held in collaboration with the Sint Maarten PRIDE Foundation, will also take place Saturday upcoming.

"We are very disappointed and would like to apologize to the public for postponing the Family Fun Park event on Sunday due to bad weather the previous night and a waterlogged grounds," said Ms. Richardson.

She said in the end considerations of safety were a priority and the organizers decided to postpone the event to a later date.

Since the event was planned to be held around the Easter holiday break, and has Easter as its theme, the organizers say it would not be practical to hold it any later than the weekend upcoming – hence Saturday’s date.
