Central Committee to Meet March 28;

President Samuel expresses condolences on behalf of members of Parliament of Sint Maarten on the Passing of former PM Pourier

The Central Committee of Parliament will meet on March 28 about the President of Parliament traveling to Curacao to represent the country at the funeral of former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles Miguel Pourier.

 

The central committee will meet on Thursday, March 28 at 11.00am in the General Assembly Chamber of the House at Wilhelmina Straat #1 in Philipsburg.

The second agenda point is for the Central Committee to approve the attendance by the President of Parliament and his spouse to a dinner at the Rijksmuseum on Monday, April 29, 2013 in the Netherlands.

The invitation came from Her Majesty Queen Beatrix.

President Samuel extends the condolences of members of the Parliament of Sint Maarten to the family of the late Prime Minister of the former Netherlands Antilles Miguel Pourier, and to the people of Curacao, his friends and admirers on the islands that once formed the Netherlands Antilles.

The former Prime Minister passed away on Sunday in Curacao at the age of 74. He was originally from Bonaire and founded the ‘Partido Antia Restruktura’ (PAR) on Curacao.

Pourier will be remembered for the role that he played with respect to bringing order to the financial house of the former Central Government of the Netherlands Antilles, as well as his role in trying to restructure the Antilles.
