The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams met with Mr. Richard Gibson, St. Maarten Representative on the Board for Financial Supervision (CFT) and Professor Age Bakker, Chairman of the CFT at her Cabinet on Thursday. The Prime Minister met with the two representatives to discuss various matters concerning the CFT and Government. The Prime Minister also received a progress report prior to the CFT’s pending meeting with the Council of Ministers.
CFT Curaçao and Sint Maarten exercises supervision as regulated in the consensus Kingdom Act financial supervision Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
CFT Curaçao and Sint Maarten consists of four members: the chairman, a member in accordance with the feelings of the council of ministers of Curacao, a member in accordance with the feelings of the council of ministers of Sint Maarten and a member a member in accordance with the feelings of the council of ministers of the Netherlands. The two Boards are supported by a joint secretariat that has its offices on Curacao and on Sint Maarten. The secretary and the staff are employed by the Minister of Interior Affairs and Kingdom Relations.
