The SXM Achievers recently inducted three new members, ready and poised to boost the club’s roster. In a traditional toastmasters ceremony, new recruits Shamika de Weever, Donovan Smith and Daisiray Lake took the Toastmasters pledge and were assigned mentors to guide them through the educational program.

"As we kick off 2013, the SXM Achievers Club is looking forward to developing its members and working on the club’s goals. We can definitely achieve what we’ve set out to with the addition of these dynamic young professionals who represent both the public and private sectors. We’re happy and proud to have these new members join the club and hope to see more like-minded persons in the community become a part of the Toastmasters family" noted the Achievers Club President Ludmila York-Duncan.

Toastmasters International offers an inexpensive educational program to develop persons into effective public speakers and leaders. St. Maarten boasts five clubs and continues to show a steady increase in overall membership.

The SXM Achievers Club was established in 2007 and has an upbeat and vibrant atmosphere. The club meets every second and fourth Thursday of the month at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library at 7:30 pm. Interested persons are asked to visit a club meeting whenever possible.
