RE-LAUNCH PLACEMENT OF STATUE AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ON SUNDAY DECEMBER 23rd AT THE ROUND-ABOUT OPPOSITE LE GRAND MARCHE SUPERMARKET, CAYHILL"

Education, training and awareness programs

must remain on the front burner of our society

in our fight against domestic violence."

Gracita states; "Peridot Foundation is pleased to announce the date for the re- launching of the statue GUARDING LOVED ONES YOU MAY LOOSE which will be held on Sunday December 23rd 2012. It has been a long time coming, but our firm commitment to the cause and perseverance to succeed finally is bearing fruit. Additionally, we could not have reached this stage without the support and patience of Mr. Micheal Maghiro, who have been instrumental in getting the new statue in bronze metal for our foundation. All sponsors past and present, who have made a monetary contribution to this cause or who have made a contribution in any other fashion, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have demonstrated by your action that you too are committed to eradicate violence from our homes, from schools and from our society".

"The first statue was made on request of the Peridot Foundation by Mr. Antonio Brown and successfully launched in 2003 with a large attendance from people from all walks of life. A video of this first launch ceremony will be shown prior to the official unveiling of the new statue on Sunday from the parking lot of le Grand Marche Supermarket. A year ago this first symbol was regrettably vandalized by unknown culprits. Undeterred by this cowardly act, Peridot foundation replaced the statue with the same symbol, this time made of bronze metal, taller, and stonger.

"Everyone in our community, law abiding citizens, visitors, government, parliament, prosecutors office, ombudsman, the business sector, young and old, male or female, must remain active and concerned to eradicate violence from our homes, schools, businesses. The quality of our lives, and that of our children is largely dependent on how we regard violence against our women and children ( and men) and what we are willing to do to keep our beautiful island a safer and happy place to live in or to visit. While we recognize that especially in a small society like ours domestic or relational violence is a very difficult issue to deal with, we cannot turn our backs on those victims who need help. Neither can we afford not to find ways and means to prevent violence against our women and children in any form or fashion. Education, training and awareness programs must remain on the front burner of our society. "

Gracita states; the program starts on Sunday December 23rd 7.15 pm will be solemn, yet exciting. Our invited guests include among others the Honorable Minister Cornelius de Weever and the young, talented, strong and courageous Ms. Daneshka Sprott. We make use of this opportunity to invite the public in general to come out and support this cause.
