Prime Minister Attends Governor’s Symposium On National Culture and Heritage

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams joined with the Minister of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs the Hon. Silveria Jacobs and other members from the Council of Ministers in attending the Governor’s Symposium on National Heritage at the Westin Resort and Casino on Monday.

 

The Symposium, which included guest lectures and addresses by Ms. Alissandra Cummings, director of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, Dr. Jay Haviser of SIMARC, and Clara Reyes. The main focus of the symposium was to lay the linkages between cultural and national heritage and its importance to the community and development of Country St. Maarten.

The Prime Minister commented that she applauded and congratulated the initiative of the Governor His Excellency Eugene Holiday on organizing the important Symposium and the important steps government is taking in developing the cultural fabric of the country St. Maarten.
