Prime Minister Overseas Transfer of Archives to New Government Building

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams oversaw the transfer of Government Archives to the new archive vault inside of the New Government Building. The Prime Minister, as Minister of General Affairs is responsible for the archives section and through her initiative and that of various interdepartmental actors archives are now housed in the vault of the new Government Building.

 

In June 2012 concerns grew from within the Archive Section that available space for filing was running low at the Receivers Office. It was then decided through the various Ministries to initiate the completion of the Archive Vault within the yet to be finalized Government Building. "This is one of the first instances where use is made of the new Government Building and this shows that we are definitely headed in the right direction. With the use of the new archive vault there will be enough space to house the various documents of Government and the first steps are taken to use our new building," commented the Prime Minister.

In addition to using the new Archive Vault the Prime Minister was also presented with the ADA (Analog Digital Archives) project. With the new ADA initiative archives will also be digitized and will be made available to the various instances within government that require their use. The project will also limit the use of paper and will make available additional space.
