The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot Williams hosted a successful early morning walk-a-thon commemorating St. Maarten’s Day and the icons celebrated on the island’s several roundabouts.

The PM lead a group of some fifty civil servants and citizens from within the community on a walk to the various roundabouts. In addressing the attendants the PM thanked all for attending the first Annual St. Maarten’s Day Tri-color walk. "I thank everyone for showing up in their bright St. Maarten colors to both excursive and commemorate our heritage through visiting the icons displayed on our roundabouts. Happy St. Maarten’s Day and join us next year for the next edition," commented the Prime Minister over a breakfast of Johnny Cakes, Saltfish and Bush Tea and the end of the walk. Attendants to the event remark on the Prime Minister’s excellent physical condition and many had trouble keeping pace with the PM. This Friday as part of the U 2 Can Move Campaign there will be a special Zumba session where all attendants are requested to wear blue to commemorate World Diabetes Day.
