Prime Minister thanks TelEm Group for kind-hearted community support

Prime Minister, Mrs. Sarah Wescot-Williams has thanked TelEm Group for making a generous donation towards an upcoming athletic event for physically challenged persons. The event, a tennis tournament for the wheelchair-bound, is being organized by the Top Promotions Foundation and its "Be Able" sub-committee.

It will also serve to bring community awareness to the needs of the physically challenged and handicapped persons in the St. Maarten Community.

The check donation was made to Be Able Committee chairman, Mr. Henry Brookson, by the Prime Minister and also by TelEm Group Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Mr. Brian Mingo, following government’s weekly press conference at the Government Administration Building on Wednesday morning.

The Prime Minister personally thanked Mr. Mingo and the TelEm Group management for responding to her "nudge" when she asked the company if it could do more than it already promised for this worthy community cause.

"The funds from TelEm Group are much needed at this time to fill a big budget gap," stated the Prime Minister.

Mr. Brookson said TelEm Group has served as a good example to the business community and urged others to follow suit to make the upcoming event a success.

Mr. Mingo said as a Good Corporate Citizen and St. Maarten’s #1 telecommunication provider, TelEm Group recognizes its responsibility to the community it serves.

"We try at all times to secure commercial returns from sponsorships but like the Prime Minister pointed out during the check presentation, there are some causes that require special support , and a sports event for the physically challenged certainly falls into that category," said Mr. Mingo following the presentation.
