Prime Minister Urges Community to Join in on Informative Hike on Saturday

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams in cooperation with Hillside Adventures will be hosting a unique hike-a-thon into the South Reward Hills on Saturday November 3, 2012. During the hike participants will have the opportunity to talk to local agriculturists about herbs and will also get the opportunity to learn how to start growing herbs in their own gardens.

Participants will also get first hand info in the sustainable eco-project which is being developed on St. Maarten and historical perspectives will also be given focused on the slave walls which can be found in the hills surrounding South Reward and Colombier.

"I encourage all those interested to come out and join in on the hike, not only to stay fit but also to learn about nature and the projects being done on St. Maarten. Those interested can meet with us at the St. Dominic School on Saturday at six a.m and if you like interested persons can also register at my Cabinet. The idea is to not only see St. Maarten moving forward but to see the people get moving as well. I would like to especially encourage Civil Servants as they can spend up to eight hours a day sitting behind their desks, so I encourage everyone to know that You Too Can Move," commented the Prime Minister.

The Hike will take about one hour and Johnny Cakes, Saltfish and bush tea will be served. Those interested can register with the Cabinet of the Prime Minister. For more information interested persons can also look on the Prime Minister’s Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/primeministersxm
