Minister Jacobs to host Family Fun Day for Teachers

As the Teachers’ Appreciation Month comes to a close the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Hon. Silveria Jacobs will be hosting a Family Fun Day for Teachers.

The Minister is inviting all teachers to come and enjoy a day with fellow teachers and their families. The day will be filled with activities for the children and adults alike. Food and drink will be available as well as entertainment.

The recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be revealed during the Family Fun Day. Throughout the past weeks, school boards and school managers have been submitting their nominees. The Family Fun will be rounding off a month of activities for teachers.

The month commenced with an Ecumenical Service for teachers on October 7th. A Panel Discussion for Educators was held on October 17th. Excerpts of this panel discussion will be broadcasted via Cable TV on October 27th.

Throughout the month of October an exhibition honoring teachers was hosted by the Philipsburg Jubilee Library including movies on exceptional teachers shown on Tuesday afternoons 5:30pm – 7: 15pm at the Library.

Letters, poems and words of appreciation and encouragement for teachers were featured in The Daily Herald News Paper. The Kids Herald featured children and their poems honoring teachers throughout the month.

Teachers read devotions and scriptures on ‘A Moment with the Master’ radio program and were also featured on talk shows such as the Beverly Hyman show.

"The world indeed expects a lot from teachers and this is a token of our appreciation," Minister Jacobs said about the Teachers’ Appreciation Month celebrations.
