NAGICO Insurances opens branch office in Grenada

NAGICO Insurances, a regional insurance provider with offices in 19 territories in the Caribbean officially opened their newest branch office, NICL General Insurance Company Ltd, during a cocktail event last Friday at the Grenada Grand Hotel.

 

The insurance company made their debut in an elegant setting with a high profile delegation from their Head Office in St. Maarten, a team which consisted of CEO of the NAGICO Group of Companies; Mr. Imran McSood Amjad, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Michael Bishop; Executive Director of New Market Development; Mr. Vibert Williams and Executive Director of Marketing; Mr. Paul Dijkhoffz.

The main focus of the team was introducing the company by providing background and history to the audience which consisted of government officials, prospective clients and agents. Speeches and a presentation by the CEO emphasized the fact that they have been around for 30 years, with locations in 19 territories to date and that the company, being located in the middle of the hurricane belt, has an excellent track record paying claims fast and fair.

"We are extremely happy for the opportunity to enter the Grenada market and we promise to bring our same high standards, competitive rates, impeccable service, fast and fair claims resolution and good corporate citizenship we are known for in all the other territories we operate in," CEO Imran McSood Amjad said in his address.

Representing the Prime Minister was Minister Nazim V. Burke, who used the opportunity to welcome the NAGICO Insurances to their island, and at the same time cautioning them to live up to their responsibilities. In response, Executive Director for New Market Development Vibert Williams affirmed NAGICO’s commitment and comforted the high profile audience by giving them a brief history about NAGICO.

"We have been around for 30 years after starting from one small office in St. Maarten in 1982 with limited capital," he explained. "We have now grown to become the largest privately held insurance provider in the Caribbean with premium income nearing one hundred million US Dollar and I am proud to say, we have never quit a territory. We have stood the test of times when other insurance companies

packed up and left, we have stood by our clients through the passing of several devastating hurricanes, earthquakes and volcanoes and we have paid all our claims."

His remarks were reinforced by a brief documentary about NAGICO followed by a presentation by the CEO showing the company’s solid financial standing, highly qualified Executive Team and renowned penchant for giving back to the communities in which they operate. The official part was closed off with the introduction of the management and staff of the branch office, which will be guided by Branch Manager Mr. Fabian Walthrus, and the handing over of two donations to The Bel-Air Children’s Home and Donnell Best; a young violinist who was recently accepted at the prestigious Berklee College of Music.

Niguel Streete; Deputy Executive Director of GARFIN ; the Grenada Authority for the Regulation of Financial Institutions was also among the group of dignitaries at the champagne event who extended congratulations to the NAGICO NICL team on their newest acquisition.
