PJL receives Naf 18.766,00 from Cooperation Foundations for Anne Frank Exhibition

On Monday October 1st, Monique Alberts, Director of the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, received a cheque of Naf 18.766,00 Antillean guilders from funding agency Cooperating Foundations of the Dutch Caribbean.

The library will host a special exhibition from the Anne Frank Foundation in the month of October, called "reading and writing with Anne Frank". Angela Dekker stated that the Cooperating Foundations wanted to support the library’s initiative to teach St Maarten youngsters about anti-racism and the life of their peer Anne Frank, who had to hide from German prosecution in World War II. The Cooperating Foundations also applaud the initiative to link St Maarten more closely to World War II through a presentation by Mary Romney, professor of the University of Connecticut, about her father’s ( Lionel Romney) captivity in a German concentration camp.

Library Director Monique Alberts expressed her thanks for the support from Cooperating Foundations for this valuable and educational project. She would like to invite the general public for the official opening of the Anne Frank exhibition that will take place on Saturday October 6th as of 7.30 pm at the library. The opening program will feature speeches from Mary Romney, St Martin researcher Daniella Jeffrey and representatives from the Anne Frank Foundation from Amsterdam.

Foundations can contact the project advisors Leon Lake and Saskia Kliphuis on 5860808 or sa********@gm***.com to discuss if their projects can be eligible for funding from Cooperating Foundations.
