Armed robber arrested

On Monday September 17th at approximately 07.20 p.m. police arrested one man with initials T.D.W. from Sint Maarten (18) at his home suspected of armed robbery.

 

The incident took place at approximately 07.00 p.m. at the Sunshine Supermarket on the Genip road in Sint Peters, when according to the victim with initials Q.H. an unknown man, dressed completely in black, armed with a handgun and his face covered stormed into the supermarket. The suspect threatened to use the weapon if no cooperation given. The suspect then took all the cash t5hat was in the cash register. After committing this act the suspect fled the scene on foot. The victim and a witness chased the suspect through the neighborhood while notifying the police of what was taking place. The chase lead police to an address in the Retreat Estate area where the suspect went into hiding. After the home was completely surrounded by police a search of the home was done. The suspect was arrested and the clothing he wore during robbery and the cash that was stolen were recovered and confiscated. The suspect admitted to have committed the act. He was taken to the Philipsburg Police Station and handed over to the Detective Department for further investigation.

The suspect in this case was immediately arrested due to the fact the citizens in the Sint Peters area who had seen what happened had called to police department given information that helped with this arrest.
