Seven Seas Water Makes Donations To Ujima Foundation, Philipsburg Jubilee Library

The Ujima Foundation and Philipsburg Jubilee Library are the latest recipients of donations made by Seven Seas Water (St. Maarten).

The donations of undisclosed amounts were made to both organizations by Franklyn Richards, Seven Seas Water (St. Maarten) Managing Director and Mario Mondo, Chief Operating Officer at Seven Seas Water Corporation, headquartered in Tampa, Florida.

The cheques were presented at the Government Administration Building last Friday, following a 3 way-agreement signed by the government of St. Maarten, public utilities company GEBE and Air Fin Holding St. Maarten, doing business as Seven Seas Water (St. Maarten).

The donation made to Ujima Foundation/Center for Knowledge and Learning is to assist the foundation with the Charlotte Brookson Academy of the Performance Arts, a school for secondary education. The purpose of the school is to offer young people an overall experience of learning — providing students with a program of intellectual, cognitive, creative, physical and emotional development required to succeed in their professional and personal lives, says Ujima director Mrs. Judith Martin-Bell.

"Seven Seas Water is most pleased to support the new academy for the performance arts as a vehicle to inspire, motivate, and enrich the lives of young St. Martiners, while preparing them to reach their highest potential as scholars, artists, St. Maarten leaders and accomplished world citizens", said Mario Mondo, the Seven Seas Water Chief Operating Officer.

This donation is, still, another example of the Seven Seas Water commitment to St. Maarten’s social development in general and youth education in particular, he added.

The donation made to the Philipsburg Jubilee Library is in aid of a presentation on ’Jews of St. Maarten’, as part of a program on tolerance presented in schools and media in October.

The program is being staged by the Anne Frank Foundation of Amsterdam, the St. Maarten National Heritage Foundation and the Philipsburg Jubilee Library.

Library director Monique Alberts said that the library will have a special program for school children with an exhibition entitled, ‘Reading and writing with Anne Frank’ throughout the month.

Seven Seas Water (St. Maarten) director Franklyn Richards and chief operating officer Mario Mondo both noted that "the company is grateful for the opportunity to contribute towards such an educational endeavor and making the library’s campaign possible ". The same sentiment was also underscored by Seven Seas Water official Mario Mondo.
