The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams attended the Little League Hometown Heroes event on Saturday. During the event, where members of the community have been recognized for their steadfast and positive contribution, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of realizing that when St. Maarten youth come home from representing the country abroad "we should show them the appreciation for having represented St. Maarten proudly abroad regardless of how well they did or how they placed. We should show them appreciation for representing St. Maarten because they go out there and represent this country proudly and that is where the strength of St. marten lies. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance in showing appreciation to the people who have motivated those students to go out there and be the best they can be. "We should make our children aware that it is not always about winning, it is about representing St. Maarten and representing her proudly. It is about showing people who you are and what you are made of".

"As the little leagues celebrates 35 years I would like to thank those people who have supported our youth throughout all those years. May the Little League survive another 35 years and let our young people steer the organization in the direction it should go. If we support our children and give them they love they need they will have the confidence and pride to represent St. Maarten in any field," concluded the Prime Minister.
