The decision to grant Voluntary Leave was taken by TelEm Group’s Management Board On May 2nd and May 3rd in continuing discussion with union representatives. At the same time management has denied the request for Voluntary Leave of five (5) additional employees and has also informed these employees accordingly.

It is management’s view that the five employees not granted Voluntary Leave most likely can be placed in the new operating Company (based on the company’s Formation Plan) or of which TelEm Group can reasonably state that these persons would otherwise receive a reasonable offer for a function in the new Operating Company.

In its response to media enquiries TelEm Group has assured that the company’s Personnel and all stakeholders are being informed of these developments on an ongoing basis and have been told to expect other decisions in the restructuring process to be taken within the coming weeks.

During a flag-raising ceremony for TelEm Group personnel Friday, TelEm Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mrs. Etnel publicly thanked the departing workers for their contributions to the company over the years.

"We not only recognize a new path for TelEm Group, but also pay homage to all TelEm Group workers present and past who have contributed to the success of our company and where we are today," said Mrs. Etnel.

The CFO said management views these latest developments as internal actions that management will be implementing in full consultation and discussion with the union and employees.

"This is a very sensitive time for all parties concerned and we trust that the public and the media will understand that we prefer to handle these matters internally and out of the public spotlight in order to maintain the confidential nature of this process," said Mrs. Etnel.
