Minister of Public Health, Social Development & Labor, Cornelius de Weever will be commemorating Labor Day 2012 on Tuesday May 1 with a church service at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church on Frontstreet at 8:30AM, followed by a march down Frontstreet turning at D.C. Steeg (St. Joseph School alley) down Backstreet to the Government Administration Building. There will be a short ceremony in front of the Government Administration Building with speeches followed by a light brunch. The theme for Labor Day 2012 is "Working together in the interest of St. Maarten."
Last year, Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor Cornelius de Weever only sent out a Labor Day message to the media, but this year he decided to commemorate the day in a more special way, as a means of showing appreciation to our laborers.
