Diesel oil spill Sunday morning on White Sands Beach In Simpson Bay…accident or not, this is a crime
Here is the update regarding the oil spill from Mr. Tatzio Bervoets.
We determined that the spill probably did not originate from cay bay but may have come from a boat or a ship considering that it was diesel and considering how the currents are in that area.
The spill started to drift from tahoma beach to the area of karakter so the Nature Foundation went to the establishments. And residents further down the beach and warned them that they may have some diesel in the area with a warning against swimming while the diesel was in the area .
I took water samples and seaweed samples and am analyzing them the next few days.
We were in contact with the coastguard and the Harbor and Mr Mingo from the harbor offered his full support.
We did a follow up patrol around one on our vessel but by that time the fuel largely evaporated and moved out to sea. Diesel usually evaporates in a few hours. This morning the beach was clean when we did a follow up, it was largely evaporated.
