One armed robbery suspect arrested

On Sunday March 25th at approximately 02.00 p.m. a Simpson Bay Police patrol along with patrols from the Zero-tolerance team were directed by the Police Central Dispatch to Yang Yang supermarket on the Well road for an armed robbery which had just taken place shortly.

The suspects took-off on foot through the neighborhood after committing the act. The two suspects were armed with a machete and a handgun and had injured one of the victims by hitting him in his head with the butt of the gun. While the patrols were on their way to the scene the description of the suspects was also given through them. During a search of the area a man was spotted coming out of the bushes. The man in question with the initials R.F.A.Y. from Sint Maarten matched the description of one of the suspects in this robbery and was arrested on the spot. He denied having been involved in the robbery. During a search in the bushes where the suspect was arrested the patrol found
the machete and other clothing that were used during the robbery. The other suspect managed to avoid his capture. This case is under investigation by the Special Robbery Unit.
