Please be advised that with immediate effect medical professionals ( including but not limited to Medical- Doctors and specialists, Pharmacists, Psychologists, Midwives, All specialized therapists, physical therapists, Dentists, Dieticians,), who would require a Work Permit ( therefore non-nationals) to work in St. Maarten would be required to:
1. Request from the Minister of Public Health, Social Development & Labor an ‘ Exemption to The Federal Ordinance Restricting the Establishment of Medical Professionals’- please refer procedure as outlined in the brochure and application form ( both in English or Dutch)- available at both the Labor Affairs Department as well as the Department of Public Health;
2. The respective business entity would be required to submit proof/evidence of the application for the ‘ Exemption to The Federal Ordinance Restricting the Establishment of Medical Professionals’ to the Labor Affairs department when applying for the Work Permit. The application for work permit will not be processed without the proof of application!
IMPORTANT:
· For those non-nationals for whom a work permit is being requested as a ‘renewal’ would be required to bring along a copy of the ‘Ministeriele Beschikking’(MB) issued to them.
· For ‘first-time’ applicants for work permits, non-nationals would need to apply and present proof of application ‘ Exemption to The Federal Ordinance Restricting the Establishment of Medical Professionals’.
Important to note: the Work Permit will be processed, however, the approved Work Permit cannot be collected, until the approved ‘Ministeriele Beschikking’ ( MB) indicating the Minister’s approval for the ‘‘ Exemption to The Federal Ordinance Restricting the Establishment of Medical Professionals’, is submitted to the Labor Affairs Department.
