Carnival season passes go on sale this Saturday

The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) will once again make available its Season Pass to Carnival lovers, residents and visitors alike for Carnival 2012. The SCDF initiated the sale of the pass last year and based on its success, "it was an easy decision to do it again this year," the SCDF said in a statement.

The season pass gives the holder entrance to all shows held in Carnival Village, local and international. For the 14 days of Carnival, nine show nights in the Village, the SCDF is offering the season pass for US $140. That’s an overall savings of almost US $50 if a person were to purchase individual tickets for every show in the Village. The price for the pass is higher this year since Carnival is longer (compared to 9 days of 2011).

Moreover, having the season pass offers convenience for the pass holder who can avoid long lines by only having to show the pass at the gate to gain entrance. The SCDF announced that the season passes would go on sale of this Saturday, February 18 until the opening of Carnival on April 19. This gives interested persons exactly two months to get their season passes.

Persons can begin registering and paying for their pass by visiting the SCDF’s temporary office located in the parking lot at the rear of the Government Administration Building in Philipsburg (blue containers). Persons overseas should email sx*********@ho*****.com to be guided through registration and payment process.

Full payment must be made upon registering. Interested persons should bring along proper identification and two passport pictures. "Last year we decided let’s give the people what they’ve been asking for and it proved to be a great success for us. The season pass offers a great level of convenience and savings. We hope that the general public will jump at the opportunity again this year," President of the SCDF Stuart Johnson said.

SCDF personnel will be available from 10am until 2pm every Saturday at the same location
